An Education in Cannabis

Why are terpenes the most important factor in choosing a strain?

Focusing only on THC percentage is a common mistake. While THC provides the psychoactive foundation, terpenes are what shape the overall experience. These aromatic compounds influence flavor, aroma, and the character of the effects, such as whether a strain feels uplifting, calming, or grounding.

The interaction between cannabinoids and terpenes is known as the entourage effect. A strain with high THC but a weak terpene profile may appear impressive on paper, but the experience is often flat and short lived. We cultivate for rich, complex terpene profiles and preserve them through slow curing and hand trimming.

Is the Indica vs Sativa classification model obsolete?

For the most part, yes. The traditional Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid categories are based on plant structure rather than chemical composition. While they may offer a very loose expectation of effects, they are often unreliable.

Actual effects are determined by the specific combination of cannabinoids and terpenes. A strain labeled Indica can feel uplifting, while one labeled Sativa can feel calming. We encourage consumers to focus on terpene and cannabinoid analysis rather than outdated labels.

What is the tangible difference between a slow cure and a rushed cure?

The curing process is one of the most critical stages after harvest. A rushed cure fails to properly break down sugars and chlorophyll, resulting in harsh smoke and a grassy or hay like aroma.

A patient, controlled cure allows cannabinoids to mature and terpenes to remain intact. Our minimum thirty day cold cure produces a smoother experience, deeper flavor, and a more refined final product.

What are Plant Growth Regulators and why must they be avoided?

Plant Growth Regulators, often referred to as PGRs, are synthetic chemicals used to increase yield and density. They produce unnaturally hard buds with diminished aroma and reduced cannabinoid content.

Many PGRs are not intended for human consumption and are associated with serious health risks. Flora does not use PGRs.Our flower achieves natural density through genetics, environment, and cultivation discipline, not chemical shortcuts.

What is remediated cannabis and how can I spot it?

Remediation is the process of treating cannabis that has failed microbial testing using radiation or ozone. While this may kill live mold, it does not remove dead spores, mycotoxins, or unpleasant taste.

Remediated flower often has muted aroma, unusual coloration, and an overly dry texture. The only reliable way to avoid it is to purchase from a producer with a strict zero remediation policy. Flora does not remediate under any circumstances.

What does pheno hunting mean and why is it essential for elite cannabis?

Pheno hunting is the process of growing many plants from the same genetic line and selecting the single specimen that best expresses desired traits such as flavor, effect, and structure.

Each seed is genetically unique. Pheno hunting allows breeders to find exceptional expressions rather than settling for average results. Our exclusive genetics are the product of more than a decade of focused pheno hunting by experienced breeders.

How does Hop Latent Viroid impact the cannabis I smoke?

Hop Latent Viroid, commonly called HLVd, is a systemic plant disease that reduces cannabinoid and terpene production without visible symptoms. Infected plants produce flower with weak aroma, diminished flavor, and reduced potency.

We enforce strict testing and quarantine protocols to ensure our entire genetic library remains HLVd free. This guarantees that every plant expresses its full genetic potential.

What is the best way to store cannabis to maintain quality?

Oxygen, heat, and light degrade cannabis over time. Proper storage preserves terpenes and slows cannabinoid breakdown.

Cannabis should be stored in an airtight glass container in a cool, dark place. Plastic bags create static that pulls trichomes from the flower, and freezing temperatures make trichomes brittle. We package in glass to protect quality from our facility to your hands.

How do all of these factors create the entourage effect?

The entourage effect refers to the way cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant compounds work together to shape the overall experience. Isolated THC produces a narrow effect, while whole flower delivers depth, balance, and character.

By focusing on genetics, clean cultivation, slow curing, and careful handling, we preserve the full spectrum of compounds that create a complete and satisfying experience.

This is the difference between a simple result and a fully realized one.
